My Hajj & Umrah Journey · Last updated 5 September 2026

Something not working, or not sure how a part of the App is meant to behave? Start here. If your question is not answered, write to gelistirbizi@gmail.com and say which phone you use and which screen you were on. We read every message.

I changed phone and everything is gone

The App keeps everything on the device and nothing in the cloud, on purpose: no account, no server, no copy of your data anywhere else. That also means a new phone starts empty. Before you switch phones, go to Me, then My data, and download the backup file, then load it on the new phone from the same screen. If the old phone is already gone, the data cannot be recovered by us or by anyone.

Does it work without internet?

Yes, and that is the point. The whole library, your plan, the counters, the qibla compass and the supplications work with no connection at all, which is what you need in a crowd in Makkah. Two things want the network: prayer times, which fall back to the last ones fetched, and downloading audio, which you do once beforehand over wifi.

Reminders are not arriving

Check three things in order. First, in the App: Me, then Notifications, and confirm reminders are on and the hour is the one you want. Second, in your phone's settings: find the App in the notifications list and make sure it is allowed. Third, battery saving: some phones, especially with aggressive power management, stop background reminders for apps you have not opened recently. Opening the App once a day is enough to keep them flowing.

I made a contribution but nothing changed

That is expected, and it is not a fault. Every feature is free for everyone, and a contribution deliberately unlocks nothing. It is a thank you to keep the work going, not a purchase of anything. If you expected a feature to appear, nothing was lost: there is no feature behind it.

Can I cancel it? Can I get a refund?

There is nothing to cancel: it is a one time purchase, not a subscription, so it never renews and you will not be charged again. For a refund you go to the store you bought from. On iPhone use reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android use the Google Play order history. We cannot issue a refund ourselves because the money passes through the store, not through us.

The automatic counter misses laps, or counts too many

The counter reads GPS, and GPS is at its worst exactly where you are using it: inside a dense crowd, close to a large building, sometimes under a roof. Two things help. Start the counter before you begin, standing still for a moment so the first fix settles. Then just walk normally, and glance at the number after each lap. You can always correct it: manual counting is right there, and a number you set by hand overrides what GPS thought. For sa'y, the App looks for you entering the Safa and Marwa ends, so walk the full length rather than turning early.

Prayer times differ from what I hear announced

The App uses the Umm al-Qura method, which is the one used in Saudi Arabia, so it should be close. It can still differ by a minute or two from a particular mosque, and the App has no way of knowing which mosque you are standing next to. Follow the adhan and the local announcement; the times in the App are there for planning your day.

The qibla arrow looks wrong

Phone compasses are easily disturbed. Move away from metal, magnets, speakers and car dashboards, take the phone out of a magnetic case, and calibrate by waving it in a figure of eight a few times. Inside a mosque, the building itself tells you more than any phone.

The Arabic sounds robotic

By default the App reads with your phone's own built in speech, which is convenient and works offline but sounds synthetic. If you would rather hear a real reciter, go to Me, then Audio, and download the recordings while you still have wifi. Once downloaded they play offline, and you can slow them down or repeat a passage while you learn it.

How do I switch to English?

Me, then Language. The interface, the plan and the reminders follow the choice. The Arabic of the supplications does not change, and the emergency health card stays available in Turkish, English and Arabic together, which is the point of it.

I found a mistake in the religious content

Please tell us. The content is compiled from the Pilgrim's Guide of the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the rulings of its High Board, and each item names its source, so a mistake is either a transcription error on our side or a source that needs checking. Write to gelistirbizi@gmail.com with the screen and the wording, and it will be corrected in the next update.
