Privacy Policy

Piyano Koçu · Last updated 25 October 2026

Short version: Piyano Koçu has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your piano playing is analysed on your own device. Sound from the microphone is never recorded to a server. Your practice history stays on the phone. The only things that can reach the internet are purchases (through Apple or Google), the key presses passed between your two devices when you use Play with two devices with a connection code, and, if you keep it on, a compact practice report sent to our coach server to write a summary. Never audio, never your name.

1. Who this policy is for

Piyano Koçu (the App) is a piano practice companion: you play a piece, the App hears or receives the notes, shows which ones were right or wrong and writes a practice plan. It is published for a general audience and is not directed to children. This policy explains, in plain language, what the App does with information.

2. What we never collect

  • No account, no sign-up, no e-mail address, no password.
  • No advertising SDK, no analytics, no crash reporting, no tracking identifiers.
  • No recordings: microphone audio is processed in the phone's memory in real time to detect notes and is discarded. It is not saved, not uploaded and not shared.
  • No camera, location, contacts or photo access.

3. Permissions and what they do

  • Microphone (optional): only while you practise in microphone mode, to detect the notes of an acoustic piano. Analysis, including the optional chord model, runs on the device.
  • Bluetooth (optional): to connect a digital piano over Bluetooth MIDI. The App receives note events (which key, when, how hard), nothing else.
  • Local network (optional, iPhone): to receive MIDI from a computer or keyboard app over your Wi-Fi network (a network MIDI session). No data leaves your local network.
  • Files (optional): to import a MusicXML score you choose. The file is converted to notes and kept on the device.

4. What stays on your device

The App stores, in its own private storage on your phone: your practice history (song, date, scores, error counts), settings (input source, view, tempo trainer), and scores you imported. You can delete the history in Progress with Delete history, remove imported scores in the library, and delete everything by uninstalling the App. We cannot recover this data because we never had it. Family profiles and each profile's history also stay only on this device. Daily reminders are scheduled on the device by the phone's own notification system and never reach a server. Back up writes your data to a single file; you choose where it goes (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, e-mail).

5. AI coach summary

After a practice run the App shows a coach summary. By default it is written on the device by rules. If the publisher has configured a coach server and you keep Coach summary on in Settings, the App sends that run's report to our server: song title, tempo, per-measure scores, the list of wrong, missed and late notes, detected patterns and up to eight of your previous scores for the same song. The server asks Anthropic's Claude model to write the text and returns it. No audio, no name, no e-mail, no device identifier is sent; the request is not stored by us beyond what is needed to answer it. You can turn this off at any time in Settings; the App then uses the on-device writer.

6. Sharing with a teacher

The Share report button creates an image and a text of your report on the device and opens your phone's share sheet. You choose where it goes (a message, e-mail, a teacher). We are not part of that transfer.

7. Play with two devices

When you use a tablet or a second phone as the keyboard, the two devices talk in one of two ways. Over Bluetooth the data stays between the two devices and never reaches the internet. With a connection code the two devices join the same "room" with a 4-digit code and messages are passed through our relay server (Render, Frankfurt). Only this is sent: which key was pressed, when and how hard, the keys to light up, which hand the keyboard plays and, for duets, a name you choose to type. The server only forwards these messages to the other device in the room; it does not record, log or store their content. A room is deleted when it empties. No audio, account or device identifier is sent. Teacher mode uses the same path.

8. Purchases

The App is free to install with a set of free pieces. Premium (all pieces, unlimited section practice and tempo trainer, score import, coach summary, share card) is sold as a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their own privacy policies; we never see your card or account details. To know whether Premium is active, the App uses RevenueCat, which receives the store receipt and a random, anonymous app-installation identifier. RevenueCat does not receive your playing, your history or your name.

9. Third parties

Apple and Google process purchases; RevenueCat processes purchase status; Anthropic processes the coach-summary request described above when that feature is on; Render hosts our relay server when you use Play with two devices with a connection code. No other third party receives data from the App.

10. Your rights (GDPR, KVKK)

Because the App keeps your data on your device, you exercise most rights directly: view it in the App, delete it in Progress, or uninstall. For purchase records held by Apple, Google or RevenueCat, contact them or write to us and we will point you to the right place. You can reach us at gelistirbizi@gmail.com.

11. Children

The App is a general-audience music learning tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone; the App has no account and no server-side profile. Children may use it under a parent's or teacher's guidance.

12. Changes

If the App ever starts sending more data than described here, this policy will change first and the change will be visible in the App. The date at the top tells you the current version.
