TickScope · Last updated 19 September 2026

TickScope has no account, no server of its own and no analytics. Your audio is never recorded and your collection never leaves the phone.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Safiye Meram, Esenler/Istanbul, Türkiye, reachable at gelistirbizi@gmail.com.

The microphone

TickScope asks for the microphone because the sound of the escapement is the only thing there is to measure. The permission is requested once, before the first measurement, and the app uses it only while a measurement is running.

The audio is processed entirely on your device. Each block of samples is filtered, the arrival time of each beat is recorded as a number, and the audio itself is discarded immediately. TickScope has no code that writes audio to a file, and no code that transmits it. What survives a measurement is a handful of numbers: a rate, a beat error, an amplitude, a beat rate and a count.

What stays on your device

  • Your watches: the names, brands, models, movements, reference numbers, lift angles, colours and notes you enter.
  • Your measurements: rate, beat error, amplitude, beat rate, position, duration and the date they were taken.
  • Your six position tests and the reports generated from them.
  • Your settings, including the interface language and the tape display options.

All of it is stored in the app's own private storage on the phone. It is not synchronised anywhere, which has a consequence worth stating plainly: it does not move to a second phone, and deleting the app deletes it.

The one thing that leaves the device

If you buy TickScope Pro, the purchase is validated by RevenueCat, acting as our processor. What is sent is a random identifier generated on your device, the store receipt, your country and the app version. No name, no email address and nothing about your watches is included, and we never receive your payment details. The lawful basis is the performance of the contract you enter into when you buy.

The payment itself is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies.

What we do not collect

  • No audio, ever.
  • No account, name, email address or phone number.
  • No advertising identifiers, no advertising, no tracking across apps or websites.
  • No analytics and no crash reporting.
  • No location, contacts, photos, calendar or health data. The app requests none of these permissions.

Children

TickScope is a tool for watch collectors and hobbyist watchmakers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child, and since we collect nothing from anyone, there is nothing held about a child to delete.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and under Turkish KVKK you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. Because your content is only on your device, you exercise all of them directly: edit or delete any watch or reading in the app, use Erase everything in Settings, or delete the app. For the purchase record held by our processor, write to gelistirbizi@gmail.com and we will pass on the request.

How long things are kept

Your content is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app. The purchase record is kept for as long as the entitlement is active and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it and the new version is published here.
