OptiBlink · Last updated 19 September 2026

OptiBlink has no account, no server of its own and no analytics. No camera frame is ever stored and your measurements never leave the phone.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Safiye Meram, Esenler/Istanbul, Türkiye, reachable at gelistirbizi@gmail.com.

The camera

OptiBlink asks for the front camera because the shape of your eyelids is the only thing there is to measure. The permission is requested once, before the first session, and the camera is opened only while a session is running. It is released the moment you stop, and also the moment the app leaves the screen.

Frames are processed entirely on your device by Google ML Kit, which runs offline and sends nothing anywhere. Each frame is turned into landmark coordinates, those coordinates are reduced to two numbers, and the frame is released in the same callback that received it. What survives is an eyelid aperture ratio and a pupil spacing in pixels. Both are plain numbers; neither is a face template, neither can be turned back into a picture, and neither can identify you.

No preview of the camera is displayed anywhere in the app. What you see on the tracking screen is a drawing, not a video feed.

What stays on your device

  • Hourly totals: seconds tracked, blinks counted, average and closest distance, seconds spent below the blink and distance thresholds, and breaks taken or skipped.
  • A row for each tracking session with its start and end time and the same summary figures.
  • Your settings, including the interface language, the camera calibration for this phone and your chosen eye spacing.

All of it is stored in the app's own private storage on the phone. It is not synchronised anywhere, which has a consequence worth stating plainly: it does not move to a second phone, and deleting the app deletes it.

The one thing that leaves the device

If you buy OptiBlink Pro, the purchase is validated by RevenueCat, acting as our processor. What is sent is a random identifier generated on your device, the store receipt, your country and the app version. No name, no email address and nothing about your eyes or your measurements is included, and we never receive your payment details. The lawful basis is the performance of the contract you enter into when you buy.

The payment itself is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies.

What we do not collect

  • No images, no video, no face template, ever.
  • No account, name, email address or phone number.
  • No advertising identifiers, no advertising, no tracking across apps or websites.
  • No analytics and no crash reporting.
  • No microphone, location, contacts, photos, calendar or health data. The app requests none of these permissions.

Biometric data

Some laws treat measurements taken from a face as a special category of data when they are used to identify someone. OptiBlink does not do that: it computes a ratio of eyelid distances and a pupil spacing, uses them for the few milliseconds a frame lasts, and keeps neither. Nothing that could distinguish one person from another is produced, stored or transmitted.

Children

OptiBlink is written for people who work at a screen and is not directed at children. A parent may sensibly use it to check how close a child is holding a phone, and the eye spacing setting exists for that, but the app is rated for a general audience and we do not knowingly collect anything from a child. Since we collect nothing from anyone, there is nothing held about a child to delete.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and under Turkish KVKK you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. Because your measurements are only on your device, you exercise all of them directly: use Erase everything in Settings, export your own data as CSV, or delete the app. For the purchase record held by our processor, write to gelistirbizi@gmail.com and we will pass on the request.

How long things are kept

Your measurements are kept until you delete them or uninstall the app. The purchase record is kept for as long as the entitlement is active and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it and the new version is published here.
