Vitalens · Last updated 19 September 2026

Vitalens has no account, no server and no analytics. Your face is never turned into a picture, and your measurements never leave your phone.

1. The camera, in detail

This is the part that matters most, so it is described exactly rather than summarised. While a measurement is running, the app receives frames from the front camera. Each frame is reduced, in memory, to five numbers:

  • the average green value over a small oval at the centre of the frame,
  • the average brightness over that same oval,
  • the proportion of it whose colour is in the range of skin,
  • how much the frame changed since the previous one,
  • and the time the frame arrived.

The frame is then released. No image or video file is created at any point, nothing is written to your photo library or to disk, and nothing is transmitted. A face cannot be reconstructed from those five numbers, which is the reason the app works this way rather than a promise about what it does with pictures.

The camera is used only while a measurement is on screen and running. Leaving the scanner releases the camera.

2. What is stored, and where

On your device only, in the app's own storage:

  • each completed measurement: date and time, pulse, the heart rate variability figures, the stress index, a confidence figure, the length of clean signal, whether the variability figures were reliable, and any tag or note you added,
  • your language choice and whether haptic feedback is on,
  • whether you have seen the introduction,
  • how many free measurements you have used today.

None of this is backed up to us, because there is no us to back it up to. It may be included in your device's own backup if you have one; that backup belongs to you and to Apple or Google.

3. What leaves the device

One thing: purchase validation. If you buy Vitalens Pro, the app asks RevenueCat to confirm the purchase with the store. What goes with that request is a randomly generated identifier that is not linked to you, the store receipt, your country and the app version. No measurement, no health figure and no camera data is ever part of it.

Payment itself is handled by Apple or Google. The publisher never sees your card, your address or your name.

4. What is never collected

  • No account, no email address, no password.
  • No analytics, advertising, attribution or crash reporting SDK.
  • No photos, video, audio, contacts, location or device identifiers.
  • No profiling, no tracking across apps or websites, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone for any purpose.

5. Health data

Your pulse and variability figures are health-related, and they are treated as the most sensitive thing in the app. They are stored only on your device, they are not transmitted, and the publisher has no way to read them. The app does not write to Apple Health or Health Connect; exporting is a file you create and hand to whoever you choose.

6. Your rights

Because nothing about you is held by the publisher, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or delete. You can delete every measurement from inside the app at any time, and uninstalling removes all of it. The Data deletion page explains both, including the purchase record.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Turkiye and want to exercise a right under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or KVKK, write to gelistirbizi@gmail.com and it will be answered within 30 days.

7. Children

Vitalens is not directed to children and is rated for ages 13 and over. No information is knowingly collected from anyone, at any age.

8. Changes

If this policy changes materially it will be published here with a new date, and the change will be described rather than silently applied.
